MEET OUR COACHES
Anibal Alvear Head Coach
With over 25 years of fencing experience as both a professional fencer and a coach, Anibal moved to the United States in 2013. He is the owner and founder of South Brooklyn Fencing, Prior to his club's opening, Anibal worked as a coach at other club in Brooklyn (2013-2016) and worked in clubs in Princeton, New Jersey also Campobasso, Italy . As a club coach for the past 12 years, his students have won numerous competitions in national and international tournaments, Anibal is also a FIE certified referee since 2014 the higher level that can be obtained.
Anibal’s experience as a coach is reflected in the success of his students in national and international competitions, including medallist at numerous National and International Competitions

Maxime Tarasiewicz Assistant Coach
Maxime Tarasiewicz Coach
With over 16 years of fencing experience Maxime was part of the polish national team since 2014, Maxime moved to the United States in 2018 to continue his studies at St. Johns University. As a coach for the past 6 years, his students have won numerous regional competitions & high school competitions. Maxime as a fencer archived multiple national medals, including 8 times Polish Champion. He as well finished 11th at the National NCAA competition obtaining an honorable mention for collegiate fencing. He was the captain in the prestigious London School of Economics vs Oxbridge fencing competition winning UK based recognition.
In the international arena he has received 5 bronze medals from European Championships and has competed at several world championships and at the university games in Taipei 2017.
He has knowledge regarding college applications and fencing in Div1 schools around the states.

Modern fencing is a dynamic, highly athletic sport that also maintains its classic characteristics of precision, finesse, and mental engagement. An individual sport that is practiced in teams, fencing is great for building self-confidence and discipline. It is a difficult sport to master, and starting early can lead to a lifetime of rewarding challenge.

Sara Amr Hossny competing at her first national championships and winning her second straight gold after winning gold in Texas North American Cup, who went 6-0 in pools and 6-0 in the DE’s, After giving up four total points in her first four DEs combined, Amr Hossny posted a 10-7 victory in the semis over Chloe Sun (Orange County Fencing Center), the silver medalist at the April NAC. In a rematch of the April NAC semis, Amr Hossny defeated Renee Chen (Gutkovskiy Fencing Academy), 9-5, for her first national championship.
